I saw this story about a guy who likely lost a job, and the only conclusion I can come to is that Tim Levad is a meddlesome jerk:
A recent tweet by one would-be Cisco employee proves that when it comes to placing a permanent black mark on your resume via the Internet, Twitter is now the tool of choice. To illustrate, here’s the tweet the now Web-infamous "theconnor" shared with the world:
"Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work.”
It wasn’t long before Tim Levad, a "channel partner advocate" for Cisco Alert, shared this open response:
"Who is the hiring manager. I’m sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the web."

I’m glad that Cisco is versed in the web. I’m less glad that its employees seem to think it’s OK to be “thought police” and try to sabotage a guy’s life over a 140 character message he posted mostly to friends.
Go ahead and blacklist the guy, Tim. I still do some network consulting while I’m in law school and had been recommending Cisco products. Thanks to your need to publicly meddle in someone’s life, I’ll recommend a different vendor. Sure, all I do is implement small networks with cheap routers and switches, but that still might be a couple hundred bucks a year in profit that your “advocacy” skills just cost Cisco. And rest assured that I won’t be putting Cisco gear in my own law office.
The professional thing to do would have been to contact the guy privately to express your concern, instead of showing the Internet how cool and ballsy you are. Bravo, Tim!
What is to prevent someone from framing a colleague in order to ruin their career? What if they want to make another person look bad to future employers?
