I decided to get involved with asbestos & mesothelioma lawsuits for a personal and a professional reason.
The personal reason is my grandfather. He spent many years in the Navy, and then as an auto mechanic. He was exposed to a great deal of asbestos in both jobs, and when I was in my early 20′s, he died of a form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Unfortunately, no one in my family (including me) knew that we could file a lawsuit against the companies that manufactured the asbestos, or against the companies that didn’t provide my grandfather with proper respirators. We assumed that because he was exposed in the Navy and on the job, there was nothing anyone could do. We couldn’t have been more wrong. It still bothers me that the companies who literally killed my grandfather were never held accountable for his death.
I’m professionally interested in asbestos litigation because it is very challenging. The amounts of money at stake in asbestos litigation are so high that the defendants hire the best lawyers money can buy. I’m a very competitive person and enjoy battling the expensive defense lawyers that asbestos companies hire. Asbestos companies don’t fight as hard as drug companies, but they definitely fight hard enough that I never get bored in an asbestos lawsuit.
I blog more extensively about asbestos and mesothelioma lawsuits at my new blog, the Asbestos Legal Journal.
ai have heard of the law suits, but I’d like to tell another segment of population that is effected by asbestos. I applied for health insurance. Within two weeks I was denied health insurance, because I work in a location where there is, or was asbestos. I work a High school. This supprised me. but having been denied I did not have medical insurance when I had emerency colon surgery. We were in a percarious financial situation. My husband had suffered three heart attacks, and we did not have insurance, as he had just started a new job. So we are now in the process of fieling a chapter 13, and will likely surrender our home. Just thought maybe you’d be interested in another facet of what asbestos has caused.
